ASSOCIATE OF ARTS DEGREE IN PRE-SCHOOL EDUCATION

Day care center workers serve a vital role in our society as more and more parents seek child care options outside the home. These workers assume the responsibility for a large portion of the child's waking hours, and must be educated to fulfill these responsibilities in a manner that contributes positively to a child's overall growth and development. They must understand the basic principles of child development, including physical, intellectual, emotional and social growth. They must be able to manage behavior, observe changes and they must be able to establish positive relationships with families of the children in their care.

The AA Degree Program in Pre-School Education is designed for students who wish to enter the field of child-care or pre-school teaching immediately after graduation. Upon completion of the program, the students are qualified to teach in a day care or pre-school, or to continue with their BA Degree in Pre-School Education at JMVU.
